If you’re anything like us, you’ve grappled with more than a couple of tan stains. We are thankful you don’t have to sleep in Naked Tan to look beautiful and Chocolate – otherwise we would be bleaching our sheets every week!
We don’t want you to stop wearing white on a night out for fear of ruining your tops (those underarm tan runs can be the worst)- so we have devised a list of our go-to tan removal tips!

An important disclaimer: If you have any delicate fabrics like silk or linen consult a dry-cleaner before attempting to remove it yourself. These kinds of fabrics can damage easily, so better safe than sorry!

1.Tan doesn’t set into our skin immediately, and it is much the same for clothes- so timing is everything

2.Always check the ‘garment care’ tags, sometimes your fabric may have specific washing instructions

3.Don’t rub anything yet! We don’t want to ruin your beautiful clothes by spreading the tan further.

4.Flip the fabric over and run cold water through the stain- you’re basically trying to push it out of the fabric.

5.Cotton fabrics will wash out tan a lot easier than others, the ingredients within tan don’t cause permanent stains to cotton. So that oversized t-shirt you marinate in should be safe! Your regular washing routine should get it out.

6.Treat the stained area with a water and dish soap/ fabric detergent mix. Now be gentle with this next part- take your finger tips and rub your homemade solution into the stain for 1-2 minutes, then pop it in the wash (cold water cycle only).

7.If your clothes are white, you are in luck. Bleach is very effective in removing stains, just apply it to the effected area and then ,as always, put it through the wash on cold.

CRUCIAL: do not wash on hot or leave in the sun until the tan is removed. Unlike jelly, tan sets in heat.

If all else fails call: your mum or your dry-cleaner 😉
